Portals are gateways. A portal describes a ‘doorway’ or and ‘entry point’ that connects the physical world with the Spirit World.
They are access points; and there are many such avenues that Satan can use to gain access to our soul and ultimately the corruption of your spirit – that inner part of us that connects us to God. Satan’s intention is to sever that connection and separate us from God, as he did with Adam and Eve.
The only way that we can grow in our faith is to be in constant relationship with our God. He is the vine, we are the branches. We cannot grow or bear fruit if we are not connected. From the very beginning, the Bible says, God would come down in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8) to commune with Adam. If there is no connection – through reading, studying, meditation on the Word and constantly communicating with Him – there is no relationship. There are many ways that Satan can infiltrate our minds so that we focus on ungodly things and lose that spiritual connection. He can enter any available gate.
The Eye Gate
In Psalm 101:3 David says, I will set no vile thing before my eyes. Job, another righteous man declares in Job 31: 1, “I have made a covenant with my eyes. How then could I gaze with desire at a virgin? We must know that Satan will not allow us to forget the lewd and lascivious images we spend our time looking at. Those images will continue to play out on the canvas of our minds.
The enemy fortifies these images so that they play over like a movie reel, becoming imbedded in our Mind (the intellectual faculty of thought and reasoning, – encompassing our ability to reason, discern, and choose). No wonder the Bible admonishes us to “gird up the loins of your Mind . . . 1 Peter 1:13.
The eye is the window to the soul and the enemy will enter if we allow him.
Eve sinned because of the “lust of the eyes” – Genesis 3:6
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.
Sin always looks good, but it does not deliver what it promises. “Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay. –” R Zaccharias.
Those who do not know Christ have been blinded according to 2 Corinthians 4:4, 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
We must guard what we allow our eyes to see. Watch for the subtle introduction of sexual encounters or explicit sexual and violent interactions on television or through other content online. This is intended to desensitize and normalize deviant behaviors so that they no longer shock or disturb your spirit.
The Ear Gate

It is well documented in scripture that the ear is a gate or entry way. The Bible says, faith cometh by hearing … Similarly, the enemy can disturb your hearing and derail your faith. Repeatedly we read in the Book of Revelations, He that has an ear let him ear . . . My sheep hear my voice. . .
We are expected to be hearing, that is, to be attentive to the voice of God. When we listen to things that do not glorify God—such as music with ungodly messages that contradict the word of God and manipulate our emotions (fornication, adultery), gossip, and evil encouragement from ungodly people—we defile our hearing gateway, which impairs our ability to hear from God. Things that we hear become embedded in our subconscious.
Consider that child whom a parent constantly puts down, or the person who consistently speaks negatively to and about himself. Before long, those words start playing out in their lives.
The things that we listen to will find its way into our spirit.
We can replay enticing things that we have heard repeatedly in our minds, because it makes us feel good; it’s what we want to hear.
As believers our minds can be hijacked, unless we are careful to put a guard around it. Philippians 4:8 says, 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Our spirits must be attuned to God to hear what He has to say. If we have been opening ourselves to what the enemy has to say through music or anything else, soon the devil’s voice will be so loud that we cannot hear anything else. To hear the voice of the Lord we must be tuned to the frequency over which he speaks. His is usually a still small voice. He will not be shouting to make himself heard.
The Mouth Gate
What is more unruly and more deadly than the tongue. James 3:8 says no man can tame it. But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. Solomon, the Teacher, concurs: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words. Proverbs 18:21
What ever we feed our minds will eventually come out of our mouths. It is out of the abundance of the heart – the center of one’s being, the source of every thought, the seat of every passion, and the arbiter of every decision – that man speaks. The most important thing that your mouth does is speak words that originate from your spirit. You can gauge the state of your spirit based on what comes out of your mouth.
The mouth can speak life and death even over your own life, not just someone else’s. That is why it is important to pay attention to what comes out of our mouth. Jesus says in John 6:63 that His “words are spirit, and they are life.” They are not just sounds. Ephesians 4:29 (NIV) Do not let any unwholesome talk (rotten, corrupt, foul) come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
We can use our mouths to tear down and destroy. The things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile him. The Psalmist entreated, “set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.“(Psalm 141:3 )
The Sex Organs Gate

The enemy arguably uses this as the most successful gate. Many mighty men and women have fallen because he entered through this gate. No one is immune and so every child of God needs to be always on guard, lest when we think we stand we fall. The Bible says that this sin is like no other. 1 Cor. 6:18 we read: Run away from sexual immorality [in any form, whether thought or behavior, whether visual or written]. Every other sin that a man commit is outside the body, but the one who is sexually immoral sins against his own body.(Amplified Bible)
Leviticus 20: 10-21 provides an extensive list of sexual perversion and entreats us, as children of God, to stay away. In fact, most of these acts were punishable by death. People glamorize sex, but God takes it very seriously. Our society and especially Hollywood would have us think that it is nothing to be concerned about. Everyone engages in sex with the person they love and even with those that they don’t, according to Hollywood. Young girls are encouraged to believe that it is an expectation after the third date.
The Bible says that sex is to be within the covenant relationship of marriage between a husband and wife. Husbands and wives become “one flesh” in sexual intimacy. Imagine you becoming “one flesh” with every person you end up in bed with.
Sex is a very powerful spiritual connection.
Those who have come out of the New Age movement can attest that it is much more than a physical activity and Satan knows it. We are the Bride of Christ, and He wants us to be pure – living in faithfulness to him. When we join our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit, with people who do not have the spirit of God, people who are in rebellion against God, we allow for the easy access of demonic spirits into our bodies. Demons are evil spirits who are always looking for a human body in which to dwell. If you make yours available, they will avail themselves and bring you under their control.
The sexual organs is a favoured access way to evil spirits.
A new study led by researchers at Vanderbilt found that 83% of lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer (LGBQ) individuals reported going through adverse childhood experiences such as sexual and emotional abuse.
Our bodies are to be a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to take care of and honor God’s temple. Engaging in sexual sin (sex outside of a proper marriage between a man and a woman before God) is defiling the temple. Eli’s son thought that they could violate God’s temple with impunity.
They not only “treated the Lord’s offering with contempt” but also “slept with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.” This sin was so egregious that 1 Samuel 3:14 reveals how God declared, “The guilt of Eli’s house will never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.”
As Christians we are in a constant battle. A battle for our souls. There are no “off days”, because “your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour“. There are weapons given to us to fight this battle – the blood of Jesus, the name (the authority in the name) of Jesus and the Word of God. Everyday as we wake up we must put on the armour of God. Only in putting on the full armour will we be ready for the fight.
A Prayer for Protection and Guarding Your Spirit Through the Blood of Jesus
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a heart that seeks Your protection and Your guidance. Thank You for the powerful and precious gift of the Blood of Jesus, which has made a way for me to be reconciled to You and covered by Your grace.
Your Word reminds us in Revelation 12:11, “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…” Lord, I claim the victory and power of Your Blood over my life. Thank You for the Blood that cleanses, redeems, and protects me. I declare that Your Blood covers me and my loved ones, safeguarding us from every scheme of the enemy.
Father, I know that in this world, there are many spiritual portals and gateways—places and influences that can affect my Mind, heart, and spirit. I pray that You would help me to stay vigilant and discerning, to guard my spirit against anything that might seek to draw me away from Your truth. As Your Word says in 1 Peter 1:18-19, “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life…but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” I rest in the assurance that through the Blood of Jesus, I am fully redeemed and protected.
Lord, I pray that Your Blood would wash over me, purify me, and guard my heart against any negative influence, lies, or attacks from the enemy. As Psalm 91:11 promises, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways,” I ask that Your heavenly protection surround me, my family, and everyone I love.
Father, give me wisdom to recognize the spiritual portals in my life—whether they be thoughts, relationships, habits, or distractions—that open the door for the enemy to gain a foothold. Help me to close those gateways and keep my spirit focused on You. Help me to walk in Your truth, keeping my eyes on You, so that I may remain strong and secure in Your protection.
Thank You for the victory that we have in Jesus, and for the Blood that covers all of our sins and shields us from harm. I trust that You, Lord, are my refuge and fortress, as it is written in Psalm 91:2, “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” I pray that You would continue to strengthen me and protect my spirit, so that I may walk in peace, in power, and in Your perfect will.
In Jesus’ mighty name,
Amen.
